quarantine.

emotions are often heightened when provoked by a high-stress environment, such as the covid-19 pandemic. the dimensionality of colours, textures, symbols and techniques in quarantine illustrates the various feelings experienced during my time in isolation, which are intentionally inconsistent to mimic the trajectory of the pandemic. the black and white warps against the colourful wefts highlights the juxtaposition of my thoughts towards isolation, and the textured ria knots allude to the distress of the experience. Sporadic areas of colour refer to the bursts of excitement that i experienced as new hobbies arose, and this is contrasted with the chains and blocks of colour that epitomize the unavoidable confinement. empty spaces between warps and weft communicate the lack of fulfillment associated with being restrained to my own home. i found myself staring at the wall during quarantine, and the significance of this being a wall hanging is a metaphorical representation of emotions felt being contained to the walls of my house.
